One of the goals of this trip was to make some connections with friends who live on Maui. But first, we had to walk the beach. (And, we found out via e-mail, that, despite the fact that it was late March, it was snowing in Portland.)
About a year ago, I discovered that one of my old childhood friends lives in Ha'iku on Moui. Neil and I hadn't seen each other for nearly 50 years, but were both amazed at how a reunion made it seem like so little time had passed. Here, Neil and his wife, Tracy, are at the waterfront in Lanai as we are going to a performance of Ululane.
Our next door neighbors at home live more than half the year in Wailea, about a mile from where we were staying.
The Beach at Kama'ole III Park - the beach closest to our rental unit.
One of the Makena beaches (just south of Wailea).
Linda with the Iao Needle in the background.
Looking down the Iao Valley
Friendly Gecko in the Iao Valley (and he didn't even try to sell us any insurance).
